Oliver Larrivee

Oliver J. Larivee is a Partner at the law firm of Petrie Leath Larrivee & O’Rourke, LLP and is a member of the California Bar Association and Bar of the Supreme Court. His key areas of practice include personal injury, wrongful death, insurance defense, and employment law. He has also worked extensively in cases involving property damage, debt collection, premises liability, and business litigation.Mr. Larrivee was raised in Fresno, California. Throughout his childhood and young adult life, he assisted in a family run Private Investigator and Adjuster business. He did a variety of tasks in the field as an investigator and claims field adjuster, including subrosa at a young age, beginning off and on since 1993, following and video taping Worker’s Compensation claimants. He has taken hundreds of recorded statements from witnesses and claimants. While surrounded by investigators, attorneys and experts, it became his destiny to begin a legal career. Prior to and while attending law school, he worked as a full time Private Investigator. He worked for vast array entities including school districts, third party administrators for governmental entities, Worker’s Compensation carriers, and local plaintiff and defense attorneys. He has been exposed to a wide variety of claim investigations, including personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, property damage, product liability, Worker’s Compensation and governmental tort claims.
Mr. Larrivee has successfully transitioned into a lawyer, and applies the skills and resources learned from being an investigator and adjuster. In handling matters at a claims level, he quickly identifies what legal issues surround each claim and determines what information is relevant to amicably resolve a claim, find potential defendants and possible witnesses.
Mr. Larrivee is dedicated and educated to perform most legal and insurance defense work. With his experience, he is not intimidated on taking any task. He is highly organized and extremely detailed. He is comfortable leading roundtable discussions on a variety of legal matters related to insurance. He is a sharp and effective communicator, with strong negotiation and leadership skills. He is a naturally a social individual, moving easily between the investigations, claims handling, and legal roles so vitally necessary to effectively handling tort defense claims. He recently got married to his wife Katie, who is a fourth grade teacher.
